How to Connect to Apple CarPlay® & Android Auto™

How to Connect to Apple CarPlay®

Before attempting to connect your Apple iPhone to your new Honda, you’ll want to ensure your smartphone is compatible. To access Apple CarPlay®, your phone must be, at the earliest, an iPhone 5 and running iOS 8.4. Any iPhones after the 5 should be compatible. Then, follow these steps:

1. Turn on your vehicle and put it in Park.
2. Touch “Home” on your vehicle’s infotainment screen. 
3. Select “General Settings.”
4. Tap “Connections.”
5. Select “Manage Device Connections.”
6. If you’ve already paired your smartphone via Bluetooth®, your phone will appear in the list of devices available. 
7. Underneath the “Function” header, select the Apple CarPlay® icon next to your device name.
8. Your iPhone may ask to accept the connection. Press “Use CarPlay.”

How to Connect to Android Auto™ 

Much like the iPhone, only certain versions of Android smartphones are compatible with Android Auto™. If you’d like to use Android Auto™ on an Android 9.0 or earlier model, you’ll have to download the Android Auto™ app through Google Play. Any later models should already have the app downloaded. Once you’ve verified your compatibility, follow these steps to learn how to connect to Android Auto™:

1. Turn on your vehicle and put it in Park.
2. Touch “Home” on your vehicle’s infotainment screen. 
3. Select “General Settings.”
4. Tap “Connections.”
5. Select “Manage Device Connections.”
6. If you’ve already paired your smartphone via Bluetooth®, your phone will appear in the list of devices available. 
7. Underneath the “Function” header, select the Android Auto™ icon next to your device name.
8. Your Android may ask to accept the connection. Press “OK.”
