TPMS Light on in Your Honda?

TPMS Light on Dash

One of the advantages of driving a new Honda vehicle is having a tire pressure monitoring system. TPMS regularly monitors your Honda vehicle’s tire pressure so that your safety is maximized as you drive around Sparta Twp. In addition to ensuring you have the most amount of traction, ensuring you have the proper tire pressure is a great way to extend the life of your tires.

With that being said, sometimes the TPMS light in your Honda may remain illuminated even after filling it up with the correct amount of air. If this happens to you, there’s no need to fret as you likely just need to perform a Honda TPMS reset. Not sure what to do? The service experts at Sussex Honda are here to help. Today, our team will go over how to reset your tire pressure light in your Honda vehicle!

How to Reset Tire Pressure Light

We only recommend performing a Honda TPMS reset if your tires have properly been inflated. If you don’t properly inflate your tires, you could be left stranded on the side of the Hackettstown roads and may even damage your vehicle or hurt yourself. Sometimes, after inflating your tires to the correct air pressure, the system will need to be reset. Let’s take a look at how to reset your tire pressure light:

  1. Some vehicles just need you to drive a bit to reset. Try going above 50 mph when you safely can for about 10 minutes. This may trigger the TPMS to reset.
  2. If driving your vehicle doesn’t work, turn your vehicle off, but have it in the “On” position. Now hold the TPMS reset button (often found on your dashboard underneath the steering wheel) until the tire pressure light blinks.
  3. Release the reset button and wait for the system to refresh.
  4. Take a short drive, and your TPMS should reset.

Resetting the TPMS Light in a Newer Honda

You may find that some newer Honda models don’t have a TPMS reset button. If this is the case, it’s likely in your infotainment or driver information screen. If you’ve got a newer Honda, here’s how to reset your TPMS light:

  1. Have your vehicle parked and turned on.
  2. In your driver information screen or infotainment screen, press the “Home” button.
  3. Go to settings.
  4. Select the “TPMS Calibration” option.
  5. Choose the “Calibrate” option. Your vehicle will let you know once the calibration has been stated.
  6. Drive around for a bit, and your Honda will notify you when the calibration has been completed.

Flashing TPMS Light in Your Honda

If the TPMS calibration has failed, or your TPMS light is flashing, you may need to schedule a service appointment. In some cases, your TPMS sensor will need to be replaced before it begins working again as you drive on the Denville roads. Our service technicians can help you diagnose the issue with the TPMS and go over what needs to be done.
