2017 CR-V Will Be First Honda SUV Produced in Indiana
Since 2008, associates at Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, LLC (HMIN) have been producing the Honda Civic, and this February they became the first plant in the state of Indiana to produce Honda SUVs, beginning with the 2017 Honda CR-V. This is quite significant because it means they now produce the top two Honda vehicles in terms of overall sales. The CR-V in particular is a compact crossover SUV that has also been fully redesigned this year. One of only five Honda plants in the United States, the Indiana location has been producing the Honda Civic since October 2008. Employing more than 2,400 people with a capital investment over $900 million, HMIN is a long-term investment in the health and vitality of the region. The announcement to bring the Honda CR-V to HMIN came along with an investment of a whopping $52 million and the addition of 100 new jobs.
About the All-New CR-V
The first model year of the fifth generation, the 2017 Honda CR-V represents a big leap forward for this compact crossover. With seating for up to five passengers, the CR-V boasts adaptable storage compartments and a flat folding rear seat that opens up abundant space for cargo at up to 75.8 cubic feet. All models except the base LX trim are powered by a new turbocharged 1.5L inline-four engine that generates 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque while getting up to an EPA-estimated 34 mpg highway and 28 mpg city*. Premium tech features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an advanced navigation system. The CR-V starts at an MSRP from only $24,045**.
